Those brave souls who face it are certain to find only death...

Deathsleet, the frost dragon menace of northern Adon! This beautifully sculpted dragon by Sandra Garrity has been one of Reaper's most popular models for many years, and now it can be yours! This miniature stands approximately 6" tall and has a wingspan of 10". Yours comes unassembled and unpainted.

The assembled court of giants, yeti, and brutish Bründ warriors were dressed for battle, weapons honed and armor gleaming under the hides of exotic beasts. A dozen of the Jarl’s finest giant warriors stood to either side of the icy-pillared hall, bearing spears the length of a ship’s mast. Four frost giant thanes, ruling princes in their own right, stood looking on, wary of treachery. Chained to the walls, enormous white serpents coiled and hissed, their backs aglow, while frost bears and winter wolves pulled on chains held by giantesses clad in long white coats. The courtiers watched the proceedings with keen interest, despite the unease hanging in the air; everyone felt it, even the Jarl.

With a thunderous grinding of ice and stone, half a dozen fur-clad slaves pushed open the enormous doors to the great hall. Like much of the palace, the portals were fashioned from blue ice that had been supernaturally hardened by ages of exposure to the otherworldly energies radiating from deep within the glacier. They were carved with elaborate script in the language of the giants and patterned with crude tribal pictograms of frost giants and icy serpents in mortal combat.

Boerogg Blackrime, Jarl of Icingstead, sat upon his throne, a huge sculpture of ice melded with ivory, silver, and the fossilized skull of a leviathan from a bygone epoch. On his white-maned head rested a crown of ivory encrusted with pale blue and white stones, and the weight of the crown bore down upon him like a mountain. He hated court, and he had little patience for grand entrances from obstinate subordinates. Nearby, his trusted blade Frostreaver stood sheathed at his knee, dwarfing the Velusian serving girl who struggled to keep the Jarl’s oversized goblet aloft. The petty cruelty momentarily distracted him from the open portal. That, and the young girl’s heaving bosom.

“Blasted wyrm,” muttered the chief to himself as he reached for his goblet. He heard the serving girl gasp with horror as an enormous monster slithered into the chamber. Deathsleet, the Scourge of the North Miriamis, had arrived.

Murmurs of unease rippled through his court and prickled the Jarl’s back like icy daggers. The cunning Jarl feigned indifference as he took the goblet. He leveled his gaze at the newcomer, finding the dragon’s snout inches from his own. Shifting his posture to peer past the dragon, Boerogg found his honor guard tense and eager, ready to leap to their Jarl’s defense if need be. Satisfied, he turned back to the dragon and smugly gulped the drink, savoring its heady flavor.

The dragon seemed agitated by the Jarl’s casual indifference to her arrival. She recoiled and settled back on her haunches while flicking her tail like an irritated cat. The court stirred, but again, Boerogg was unimpressed.

“Yer late, wyrm,” the Jarl spoke flatly while looking into his cup. “I lack any patience for your dramatics.”

“Detained, with regretssss, great king,” hissed the ivory-hued dragon, her sarcasm only barely hidden.

The Jarl studied the dragon for a moment, then thought it better not to ask. The dragon would just give an evasive answer and verbally spar for hours, as she had done with the previous Jarl, the fool Kolgronar. Boerogg gestured irritably, and a handful of slaves pushed a trio of carts from behind the throne, each one heaped with gold, glittering jewels, and other precious goods.

The dragon craned her neck to see the carts, and her eyes flickered with greed as she stared at the tribute. “You are too kind, great king,” Deathsleet said in mock deference. Boerogg’s face flushed dark blue, and his yellow eyes widened with anger. The frost giant Jarl stood suddenly and dramatically drew Frostreaver from its sheath. For a moment, the assembly held its breath, unsure of what would happen next. The Jarl looked past the dragon and stepped before the crowd, his words echoing through the halls and holds of Icingstead. “Two days hence,” he bellowed, “we march on Kragmarr!”

Yetis screeched, giants clashed weapons against their shields, and warbeasts roared in anticipation of the impending attack. The Jarl looked the white dragon dead in the eyes. “I’ve not forgotten yer word, wyrm. Pray that you remember it as well,” he glowered. He then stormed from his throne room, and the crowd filed out behind their chieftain to prepare for war.

Deathsleet lingered, watching and listening as the din faded.

The last to leave was Princess Svetlana as she strode haughtily from the dais with her pet frost bear at her heel. Her eye held a skeptical and challenging gleam as she stepped towards the dragon, but she spoke not a word. The dragon held her ground for a moment, sizing up the giantess. The frost bear let out a low, rumbling growl.

“Princessss,” the dragon hissed as she bowed and stepped aside in deference.
“Satisfied, dragon?” the princess asked Deathsleet as she passed, her voice heavily laden with disgust. She did not wait for an answer as she left the chamber.
After the princess was gone, Deathsleet gleefully turned her gaze back to the treasure-filled carts.

“Indeed,” hissed the white dragon under her breath, “for now.”
